Harvey Elliott came off the bench to deliver a dramatic 87th-minute winner as Liverpool edged Paris St Germain 1-0 in their Champions League last-16 first leg on Wednesday.
The substitute slotted home less than a minute after coming on, finishing off a layoff from Darwin Nunez with Liverpool’s first shot on target. The victory came against the run of play, with Arne Slot’s side surviving relentless PSG pressure, thanks to a series of stunning saves from Alisson.
PSG, unbeaten in their last 20 games, created numerous chances but failed to break through. Joao Neves blasted over an early opportunity, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s curling effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. Bradley Barcola also saw a penalty appeal dismissed after going down under Ibrahima Konate’s challenge.

Liverpool’s defense, led by Alisson’s heroics, held firm as the Brazilian keeper denied efforts from Neves, Ousmane Dembele, and Desire Doue. Despite their dominance, Luis Enrique’s side paid the price for their missed chances.
With time running out, Alisson launched a long ball that Nunez controlled before setting up Elliott, who coolly slotted past Gianluigi Donnarumma to snatch an unlikely victory.
Liverpool now takes a crucial advantage into next Tuesday’s return leg at Anfield, where PSG faces a tough task to turn the tie around.
