First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, will distribute 370,000 cartons of locally made sanitary towels under a new program called the Flow With Confidence Initiative.
Speaking during the first quarterly meeting of the RHI with governors’ wives in Abuja, Mrs. Tinubu said each state, including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, would receive 10,000 cartons to ensure young girls, especially those in rural communities, have access to sanitary products.
She emphasized that beyond promoting menstrual hygiene, the initiative would boost local manufacturing and contribute to economic growth by creating jobs and adding value to the country’s production sector.
“We have decided that each girl will receive a carton when we launch the Frrr to Flow Initiative,” she said, urging state coordinators to oversee fair distribution.
Mrs. Tinubu also highlighted RHI’s collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to address plastic waste pollution across the country.

Recalling her visits to different states, she described the sight of plastic waste defacing cities as alarming and stressed the need for urgent action.
“We don’t have to be intimidated by the enormity of the plastic waste problem. We will start by teaching our children how to keep their environment clean,” she said.
To drive awareness, RHI plans to introduce Environment/Climate Change Clubs in secondary schools and establish Environmental Climate Change Societies in higher institutions.
As part of efforts to enhance recycling strategies, Mrs. Tinubu disclosed that RHI officials would visit a recycling plant in Ghana to study best practices. She urged state coordinators to support the initiative
