Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries, accused the administration of former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun of demolishing his cement plant in Itori, Ewekoro local government area, twice.
He further alleged that during the second demolition, the factory’s fencing was also destroyed.
However, former Governor Amosun quickly countered the claim, asserting that Dangote did not have the necessary approvals for the structures he alleged were demolished.
Dangote made the statements during a visit to his new cement factory, which is nearing completion in Itori, Ogun State.
The facility is expected to begin operations in 2026.
Reflecting on the project, Dangote thanked the current Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for encouraging him to resume construction.

“We came back because of His Excellency, my brother Prince Dapo Abiodun. This factory was demolished twice by the previous administration. We started, and Governor Amosun demolished it, including the fencing. But now, we’re here because of Governor Abiodun,” Dangote remarked.
The new facility will include two production lines, each capable of producing 6,000 tons of clinker per day, and will cover limestone crushing, cement packaging, and shipping.
The development is expected to further enhance Ogun State’s industrial profile.
Dangote also provided an update on the company’s ongoing expansion, noting that Dangote Cement remains Africa’s largest cement producer, with a capacity of 52 million tons annually across the continent.
He highlighted that nearly 70% of this production comes from Nigeria, including major plants in Kogi, Ogun, Benue, and Edo States.
The addition of the Itori and Abidjan plants will increase Dangote Cement’s capacity to 61 million tons per year by next year.
