A coordinate effort by security forces is underway in Kogi State facing fresh invasion of kidnappers along its major route to the Federal Capital Territory.

A coordinated team comprising the military, police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local vigilante groups is actively tracking the abductors of passengers to ensure the safe return of the victims.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Jerry Omodara has emphasized the strength of the collaboration between security agencies and local communities in tackling the crisis. He disclosed that top security officials in the state met twice on Wednesday to strategize on the operation, aiming for swift and effective results.

Omodara highlighted that intelligence from residents has been instrumental in tracing the kidnappers’ movements. He reassured the public that the government remains committed to eliminating criminal activities and enhancing security in the state. “This strong collaboration, along with helpful information from the local community, is key to our efforts to capture the kidnappers and secure the release of the victims,” he stated.

The security adviser noted that Kogi has witnessed a significant drop in crime rates, including kidnappings, due to increased synergy between security operatives and citizens. He stressed that ongoing efforts would further strengthen the fight against such threats.

Addressing concerns from relatives of the abducted passengers, Omodara assured them that authorities are working tirelessly to bring their loved ones home safely. He called for continued vigilance and cooperation from the public to support the rescue operation.

The Kogi State government reaffirmed its commitment to making the state a safe haven for both residents and visitors. Security agencies have urged individuals with relevant information to report to the nearest authorities, ensuring that criminals have no hiding place.
