A non-governmental organization, Anti-Kidnapping, Human Trafficking, Child Abuse and Drug Abuse Initiative, AKH-TRACADA has praised President Bola Tinubu for his swift intervention in the Rivers State political crisis.

The founder and Executive Director of the NGO, Mr. Belonwu Ezeanyaeche, in a statement on Monday in Abuja, described Tinubu’s intervention as timely and effective in preventing further escalation of tensions. He praised the president’s leadership in maintaining stability in the country.

Ezeanyaeche lauded Tinubu as a catalyst for peace, stating that his decisive action reflected a strong commitment to the safety and well-being of Nigerians. He noted that such leadership had brought renewed hope to the nation.

“President Tinubu’s leadership has shown that he is a man of his words, and his commitment to addressing the challenges facing the country is unwavering,” he said.

The executive director expressed confidence in the administration’s dedication to upholding democratic principles and ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights. He urged Nigerians to support the government’s efforts in promoting peace and stability.

On March 18, Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the members of the House of Assembly for six months. He appointed retired Vice Adm. Ibokette Ibas as administrator to oversee the state’s affairs.

The president exercised his constitutional authority under Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution to restore order in the state. His decision has been met with mixed reactions, but AKH-TRACADA views it as a necessary step in preserving peace.

Ezeanyaeche called on citizens to remain united and support the government’s efforts in ensuring a stable and prosperous Nigeria.
