Nigerian travel content creator, Alma Asinobi who recently completed her record-breaking journey across all seven continents with her Nigerian passport, has celebrated the Nigerian flag as the first and fastest to travel to every continent of the world.

After 71 hours, 26 minutes, and 25 seconds of relentless travel, Asinobi landed in Sydney on Sunday, carrying the Nigerian flag across Antarctica, South America, North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, her final stop.

Celebrating her achievement in a post on Instagram on Tuesday, she wrote, “Our Nigerian flag is officially the first and fastest flag to visit all 7 continents! I guess my work here is done. I cannot wait to be homeeeee.” Recall that Asinobi explained that she was denied boarding on her flight to Perth, Australia, which forced her to rebook a later flight to Sydney and contributed to her late arrival. Noting the rest that she needed after the long tour, she stated that even in her sleep, the intensity of her journey lingered, as she recounted waking up in a panic after dreaming about a final boarding call.

“Gosh… Continent 8 (Dreamland) was kind to me. No visas needed, no flight needed, just a bed. To be honest any bed would have been fine. I just needed my swollen feet to not move for a few hours and all I can say is… mission accomplished.

“As I was sleeping I heard ‘this is the final boarding call…’ and I jumped out of bed startled only to realize it was only a dream. That’s not normal,” she wrote.

While she may not have broken the existing Guinness World Record of 64 hours set by an American veteran, Johnny Cruz Buckingham, Asinobi’s feat remains historic as her journey has sparked widespread discussions about passport inequality and the barriers restricting global mobility for Nigerians.

She now looks forward to her homecoming event on March 30, where she aims to break another record by gathering Nigerians to sign the flag she carried across the world.
