Popular Yoruba actor Ibrahim Chatta has opened up about his financial struggles, with a confession of inability to pay his employees’ salaries for four months.

In a video shared on his official Instagram page, Chatta stated that he has 42 staff members working for him. However, due to financial constraints, he has found it difficult to meet their salary obligations.

He expressed concern about the economic situation in Nigeria and emphasized the need for the government to utilize the country’s natural resources effectively.

Chatta clarified that his intention was not to seek financial assistance but to shed light on the difficulties many are facing. He explained that despite his efforts in the Yoruba movie industry, most of the work he does is unpaid, and he often charges little when working with friends.

His statement sparked widespread reactions from fans and social media users. Many sympathized with him, while others used the opportunity to discuss Nigeria’s economic challenges. One user, Kingashdy, admitted feeling emotional while watching the video, saying, “This country is killing dreams.”

Another fan, Olufunny, compared Nigeria to Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Kuwait, stating that those nations use their oil wealth to develop infrastructure and provide benefits for citizens. He expressed hope that Nigeria would one day be free from what he described as “wicked leaders.”

Some users praised Chatta for his honesty, with Real Funky offering prayers for Nigeria, saying, “May Allah accept our act of ibadah and save our dear and only country.” Others, like Anike, focused on the actor’s appearance, commenting, “Uncle Ibrahim is ageing handsomely.”

The discussion around Chatta’s revelation highlights broader concerns about the financial struggles faced by Nollywood actors and the state of the Nigerian economy.
