President Bola Tinubu participated in the Eid-el-Fitr prayers on Sunday at the National Eid Prayer Ground along Airport Road in Abuja, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Arriving shortly before 9 am, the President was welcomed by senior government officials, religious leaders, and several dignitaries.
Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
Later in the day, President Tinubu will host a special lunch at the State House for the first time since taking office, in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
In previous years, he has celebrated the occasion at his home in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and supporting their leaders at all levels of government, emphasizing that such efforts are essential for the country’s growth and development.
In his Eid-el-Fitr message delivered after prayers on Sunday, the Sultan urged the nation to pray for peace and take a stand against the rising insecurity that has plagued various regions. He expressed deep concern over the ongoing security challenges while also commending the security forces for their diligent efforts.

The Sultan advised citizens to focus on constructive criticism rather than resorting to unwarranted attacks on leaders working to resolve the country’s issues.
He also praised the Sokoto State Government for initiating numerous transformative projects and encouraged residents to continue supporting these initiatives to achieve even greater progress.
Highlighting the ongoing relationship between leaders and citizens, the Sultan urged the government to maintain its momentum and continue the positive work they have begun to elevate the state to new heights.
He also expressed gratitude to both the government and generous individuals in Sokoto for easing the Ramadan fasting experience for residents through various forms of support.
The Sultan particularly commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his assistance to orphans and widows, ensuring they had special provisions during Ramadan and for the Sallah celebration.
He also acknowledged the clerics and Ulamas for their professionalism and respectful conduct throughout the Tafsir (sermon) sessions during Ramadan.
Emphasizing unity, the Sultan called for mutual respect among members of the Muslim community, noting that maintaining a decorous attitude and avoiding unnecessary conflict benefits the entire Ummah, who have gained from the wise teachings shared during the holy month.
