LASU best graduate wins big with N10m

In a moment of pride and celebration, Miss Isioma Sybil Nwosu, the Overall Best Graduating Student of Lagos State University, LASU, has received a N10 million gift from the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The announcement was made during the university’s 28th Convocation Ceremony held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU main campus in Ojo, Lagos.

The ceremony, which marked the Award of Doctorate Degrees and Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees, was attended by top government officials, members of the university community, and other dignitaries.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, praised Miss Nwosu’s academic excellence and dedication. He described her achievement as a source of inspiration to other students across the state.

“This recognition is not just a reward for academic brilliance,” the governor said, “but a message to all our young people that hard work, resilience, and discipline will always be celebrated and rewarded in Lagos State.”

Miss Nwosu, a graduate of the Department of Biochemistry, emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average that placed her at the top of her class and the entire graduating set.

Overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, she expressed appreciation to the university management, her lecturers, and the Lagos State Government for their support and encouragement.

She also dedicated her success to her family and mentors who stood by her throughout her academic journey.

The convocation ceremony also featured the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on notable personalities who have made outstanding contributions in various fields.

LASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, commended the state government for its continued investment in education and for recognizing academic excellence in tangible ways.
