In light of the ongoing industrial action by staff of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMET, United Nigeria Airlines has assured its passengers that all necessary measures are in place to ensure safe and uninterrupted flight operations.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the airline emphasized its commitment to the highest safety standards and regulatory compliance, stating that passenger safety remains its top priority.

The company confirmed that it is working closely with relevant aviation authorities to mitigate any disruptions that may arise from the NiMET strike.

“We understand the concerns that may arise from the current situation. However, our operations continue without compromise to safety.

Our pilots and crew are fully briefed and prepared, and we continue to receive the necessary weather updates through alternative approved channels,” the statement read.

The airline also called on passengers to stay calm and trust that all flights would proceed according to schedule unless otherwise communicated.

It expressed optimism that the strike would be resolved soon, urging all stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue to avoid prolonged disruption in the aviation sector.

NiMET staff commenced the industrial action earlier this week to press home demands related to welfare and operational challenges. The agency plays a critical role in providing weather forecasts and updates essential to flight planning and safety.

The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has yet to issue a formal statement on the situation, but sources say high-level consultations are ongoing to resolve the matter.

Meanwhile, United Nigeria Airlines reaffirmed its readiness to adapt to evolving circumstances and maintain the trust of the traveling public.
