The European Union has launched the EU–Nigeria Agribusiness Platform, EUNAP, to support Nigeria’s efforts to modernize its agriculture sector and promote inclusive economic growth.

The platform, unveiled in Abuja on May 23, is a digital hub designed to connect key players in the agribusiness value chain—from producers and processors to financiers, investors, and policymakers—across both Nigeria and Europe.

According to Mr. Massimo De Luca, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, EUNAP is more than a technological tool; it’s a bridge-building initiative aimed at fostering innovation, trade, and finance across strategic agricultural sectors.

He emphasized that agriculture remains a core pillar in EU-Nigeria relations and that the EU is committed to helping make Nigeria’s agribusiness sector globally competitive and sustainable.

The platform is being implemented by Agribusiness Register Limited, with its CEO, Mr. Roland Oroh, describing it as a transformative development in Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.

He said EUNAP would not only facilitate real-time collaboration but also attract investment and solve pressing sectoral challenges.

“This is the kind of innovation Nigeria urgently needs,” Oroh said, adding that with strong support from EU and Nigerian stakeholders, the platform could unlock new opportunities, expand market access, and fuel the country’s agricultural transformation.

The initiative is part of the EU’s broader strategy to promote inclusive and sustainable agribusiness development in Nigeria, serving as a catalyst for coordinated policy dialogue and resource mobilization.

The launch marks a significant step forward in leveraging technology and international cooperation to advance food security and economic development in Nigeria.
