The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive intervention in the state’s deepening political crisis, urging Rivers residents and Nigerians nationwide to do the same.
At a stakeholders’ meeting of the “Simplified Movement” in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Fubara described Tinubu’s action as timely and wise, stating it prevented the oil-rich state from descending into chaos.
He commended the president for restoring stability and initiating a reconciliation process aimed at bringing both executive and legislative institutions back to normalcy.
“I don’t know how he gets his information, but the truth is that he acted with wisdom at the right time. He is the one you should thank,” Fubara said.
He added that Rivers State is gradually returning to normal governance, as both arms of government have started working in harmony for the public good. He called on his supporters to embrace peace and refrain from actions that could destabilize the reconciliation effort.

In a surprising appeal, Fubara urged the people of Rivers to apologize to the president for the unrest caused by the crisis and reiterated his commitment to peaceful resolution and democratic progress.
The political rift between Governor Fubara and his former mentor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, escalated barely six months after Fubara assumed office, throwing the state into months of intense political turmoil.
Following the escalation, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers and appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as sole administrator—a move widely criticized as unconstitutional by the opposition.
Although Wike has continued to publicly refer to Fubara as his political godson and denied any feud, the deep divisions over control of the state’s political structure remain unresolved.
Fubara, however, expressed hope that with Tinubu’s intervention, a path to lasting peace and effective governance has begun.
