In a dazzling spectacle of elegance, purpose, and international sisterhood, Opal Suchata of Thailand was crowned the 72nd Miss World during the grand finale held on May 31, 2025, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
Her crowning marks a historic first for Thailand, as she becomes the nation’s inaugural winner of the prestigious global pageant.
The evening concluded a month-long festival that brought together 108 contestants from across the world to celebrate beauty, culture, service, and advocacy.
Hosted for the first time in Telangana and the third time in India (following editions in 1996 and 2024), the event transformed Hyderabad into a vibrant global platform, spotlighting the region’s cultural richness and hospitality.
Opal Suchata’s coronation was met with thunderous applause as she was crowned by Krystyna Pyszková of Czechia, Miss World 2023.

Beyond her beauty, Opal impressed judges and audiences with her poise, intelligence, and passion for humanitarian work. She also topped the contest’s multimedia leaderboard with over 2.3 million views and won the online contest, making her a fan favorite long before the finale.
Co-hosted by former Miss World Stephanie del Valle (2016) and Indian TV host Sachiin Kumbhar, the show featured electrifying performances from Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter.
The event also honoured actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood with the Miss World Humanitarian Award for his transformative service to communities across India. Entrepreneur Sudha Reddy, a major patron of the festival, was named Global Ambassador for Beauty With a Purpose.
After showcasing the talents and missions of all 108 delegates, the competition narrowed down to a Top 40, with 10 representatives selected from each continent. Nigeria’s Joy Mojisola Raimi was among Africa’s top ten, along with standout candidates from the Americas, Europe, and Asia & Oceania. The Top 40 was later trimmed to 20, then eight, and finally to the Top 4 continental queens.

After a final round of questions from the judging panel led by Miss World Chairwoman Julia Morley, Opal emerged as the winner, with Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje finishing as first runner-up, Poland’s Maja Klajda as second runner-up, and Martinique’s Aurélie Joachim placing third.
Opal’s victory speech resonated deeply with the audience: “This moment is not just my win, but a dream shared by every young girl who hopes to be heard, seen, and bring positive change.”
The 2025 edition of Miss World stood as a shining example of the organization’s commitment to “Beauty With a Purpose,” with contestants engaging in community service, cultural exchange, and leadership throughout their stay in India.
