The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku is expected to review the book by the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP, titled “Nigeria Media Renaissance: GOCOP Perspectives on Online Publishing” billed for presentation next week.

The highly anticipated event will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, located in Wuse Zone 4, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), starting at 10:00 a.m. This was confirmed in a statement released by GOCOP’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke.

According to the statement, the book presentation will be chaired by the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi.

The event aims to not only showcase the new book but also serve as a major fundraiser for the proposed N2.3 billion GOCOP Media Centre.

The centre is envisioned to be a multi-functional complex that will include a modern secretariat, a cutting-edge digital library, and purpose-built event halls to serve media professionals and stakeholders in the online publishing industry.

Dr. Neliaku, who will lead the book review segment of the event, is an accomplished communications expert, public speaker, and author.

He is also the Chairman of the NIPR’s FCT Chapter and has previously served as a Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015.

GOCOP President Maureen Chigbo emphasized that the book project represents a major milestone in Nigeria’s media landscape, as it documents and reflects on the transformative journey of online journalism in the country through the lenses of seasoned practitioners.

“The book is a testament to the growth, challenges, and evolution of online publishing in Nigeria. It reflects the collective voice and expertise of our members who have played crucial roles in shaping public discourse through credible digital platforms,” she said.

GOCOP, which comprises over 120 corporate publishers, has been instrumental in promoting professionalism, ethical reporting, and adherence to journalistic standards in the digital media space.

The organisation continues to advocate for responsible online journalism and capacity development across the country.

As part of the June 17 program, invited guests, stakeholders, and media practitioners will engage in high-level discussions around the role of digital publishing in democratic governance, press freedom, and national development.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to contribute to the realisation of the GOCOP Media Centre through donations and partnerships.

The Guild called on members of the public, development partners, and the media industry to support the initiative and participate in the event.
