U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strongly worded appeal to Iran, urging the country to engage in diplomatic negotiations over its nuclear programme before the escalating conflict in the region becomes irreversible.
Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump warned that Iran risks devastating consequences if it does not return to the negotiation table. His remarks came in the wake of several Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and military leadership, an action that has prompted fears of full-scale war in the Middle East.
“There is still time to make this slaughter come to an end,” Trump wrote. “Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”
Tensions between Israel and Iran have reached new heights in recent days, with Israeli media confirming that Tehran retaliated with a large-scale drone attack involving around 100 drones. All were reportedly intercepted and neutralized before reaching their targets.
His post referenced his administration’s “maximum pressure” strategy, which included withdrawing from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and imposing severe sanctions on Tehran. “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal,” Trump asserted.

He also emphasized the military dominance of both the United States and Israel, writing, “The U.S. makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the world, BY FAR, and Israel has a lot of it—with much more to come. And they know how to use it.”
Trump’s remarks appear to be both a warning and a final push for diplomacy in a region teetering on the edge. Analysts say his message could signal renewed interest from Washington to mediate or pressure for de-escalation, even as diplomatic channels between the Biden administration and Iran remain limited.
However, many observers doubt Tehran’s willingness to pursue talks in the current climate. With domestic political pressures and ongoing Israeli strikes, Iran’s leadership may see any move toward negotiation as a sign of weakness.
“This is not the environment where diplomacy thrives,” said Middle East policy analyst Farah Khorsandi. “Iran is more likely to dig in than to negotiate under fire.”
Still, Trump’s call adds another voice to growing international concern. The United Nations and several European leaders have called for immediate restraint from both parties, warning that continued hostilities could destabilize the entire region.
As the situation develops, global attention remains fixed on Tehran’s next move—and whether Trump’s warning will influence any shift toward renewed diplomacy or signal a deepening of the conflict.
