Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stern warning to the United States, stating that Washington must “receive the response to its aggression,” following its coordinated military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend.

The Iranian leader made the statement during a high-level phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, according to a communique released by his office on Monday. The conversation focused on the escalating tensions in the Middle East and the potential consequences of the growing military conflict between Iran and Western powers.

Pezeshkian expressed strong disapproval of the American airstrikes that targeted the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites. He labeled the U.S. attacks as a “clear symbol of insincerity,” accusing Washington of hypocrisy in its claims of promoting dialogue while simultaneously launching unprovoked military action.

In spite of his condemnation, Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to diplomatic engagement, especially with European nations. “We have always been open to dialogue and interaction with Europe,” he said. “We believe that no one loses from genuine diplomacy.”

The Iranian president emphasized that his administration remains interested in peaceful resolution, despite the loss of civilian lives and key scientific personnel. “Iran does not seek war, but we cannot overlook aggression,” he added.

President Macron, on his part, called for restraint and reiterated France’s willingness to mediate and help restore stability. He emphasized the importance of preventing further escalation in the region, urging both Iran and the U.S. to consider the broader global implications of their actions.

Tensions between Iran and the United States escalated significantly following coordinated Israeli strikes on June 13, which targeted Iranian nuclear and military installations. Those strikes, reportedly killing multiple senior Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists, triggered Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone attacks on Israel.

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed via Truth Social that American forces had successfully carried out strategic bombings on the three Iranian nuclear facilities, which the U.S. claimed were being repurposed for weapons-grade uranium enrichment.

Iran’s Health Ministry later reported more than 400 fatalities and over 3,500 injuries from the combined Israeli and U.S. attacks. On the Israeli side, 24 deaths have been confirmed so far due to retaliatory Iranian missile strikes.

Analysts warn that the region is now at a critical tipping point. With a U.S. presidential election on the horizon and Iran’s military forces on high alert, diplomatic efforts led by European powers, China, and the United Nations are expected to intensify in the coming days.

Pezeshkian’s latest remarks underscore the fragile nature of peace in the region and the unpredictable consequences that further hostilities could ignite.
