The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities.
The announcement was made during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on Tuesday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The policy meeting, which brought together heads of tertiary institutions and key stakeholders in the education sector, also set varying minimum entry scores for other institutions.
Colleges of Nursing Sciences will admit candidates with at least 140, while Polytechnics, Colleges of Agriculture, and Colleges of Education are to accept candidates who scored a minimum of 100 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

JAMB made the announcement public via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating:
“The minimum admissible scores for admissions for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences by the stakeholders (Heads of Tertiary Institutions).”
The new benchmarks are part of efforts to standardize the admissions process while giving institutions some autonomy in setting specific departmental thresholds above the national minimums.
While these figures serve as general cut-off marks, universities and other institutions retain the freedom to adopt higher benchmarks based on competitiveness, program demand, and institutional policies.
