President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigeria’s digital content creators and tech-savvy youth to play a central role in nation-building by championing integrity, creativity, and truth.
Speaking at the Digital Media Summit held in Abuja on Friday, Tinubu emphasized the growing influence of digital media in shaping national narratives, economic opportunities, and civic engagement.
Addressing the young innovators and online creators gathered, Tinubu described them as key agents of national transformation.
He said digital platforms now represent not just communication tools, but critical vehicles for development. “You are not waiting to be invited into the future. You are building the future,” he told the audience.
The President highlighted the importance of responsible content creation, warning against misinformation and divisive rhetoric.
He encouraged digital influencers to shift their focus beyond fleeting trends and instead use their platforms to solve societal problems, create jobs, and foster unity.
His core message—”Verify before you amplify”—underscored the need for fact-checking and ethical dissemination of information in the digital age.
He also emphasized the role of patriotism in the digital space, asserting that true love for the country is shown not just in slogans or politics, but in the work young people do every day.

“Every app you design, every story you tell, every brand you build, is a statement to the world about who we are and what we stand for as a nation,” Tinubu said.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting the tech ecosystem, Tinubu revealed ongoing efforts to expand digital infrastructure and improve broadband access nationwide.
“Access to the internet must not be a privilege for the few,” he said, noting that strategic investments are being made to close the connectivity gap and empower all Nigerians to participate in the digital economy.
Tinubu also addressed the issue of cybersecurity, stressing that digital trust is essential for the country’s inclusive growth. He promised the federal government would continue to protect Nigerians both physically and virtually as they engage with online platforms.
The President concluded his remarks by invoking the recent comeback victory of Nigeria’s Super Falcons as a symbol of national perseverance and resilience. He challenged the youth to lead with courage and values. “Let your leadership be defined by integrity.
Let your digital footprint reflect the best of our nation. Let your actions speak of a generation that did not wait for permission to lead,” he said.
