The prestigious Ballon d’Or 2025 nominees have been unveiled, featuring a star-studded lineup dominated by Paris Saint-Germain’s treble-winning stars and emerging young talents like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

The full slate of awards and the schedule for football’s most celebrated individual honors was announced, setting the stage for an exciting ceremony in Paris this September.

The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony, marking the 69th edition of the awards, is set for September 22 at Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet. The event includes several categories beyond the premier Men’s and Women’s Ballon d’Or awards, such as the Kopa Trophies for best young players, Yashin Trophies honoring top goalkeepers, and Gerd Müller Trophies for top scorers, among others.

Paris Saint-Germain’s dominance is clear with nine players nominated for the Men’s Ballon d’Or, including Ousmane Dembele, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, and Fabian Ruiz, reflecting their incredible treble-winning season crowned by Champions League glory. Dembele’s exceptional contributions include 35 goals and 16 assists, making him a clear frontrunner along with fellow nominees like Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland, both boasting outstanding seasons.

Barcelona’s prodigy Lamine Yamal, just 18 years old, stands out not only on the main nomination list but is also a strong candidate for the Men’s Kopa Trophy, signaling a rising era in football history. Meanwhile, Scott McTominay and Arsenal’s Declan Rice exemplify strong Premier League representation on the shortlist.

On the women’s side, stars such as Aitana Bonmatí, Chelsea’s Lucy Bronze, and England’s Chloe Kelly are in contention for the prestigious Women’s Ballon d’Or. The awards also acknowledge coaching excellence, with nominees including PSG’s Luis Enrique and England’s Sarina Wiegman.

Voting for the awards involves journalists from the top-ranked football nations worldwide, making the Ballon d’Or a truly global assessment of football excellence. The ceremony promises to be a highlight of the sporting calendar, celebrating the finest talents across men’s and women’s football in 2025.
