Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, has denied claims that he was carrying alcohol during a recent incident involving him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, even as he apologised for misgivings created at the scene.
In a statement personally signed on Friday, the singer described the episode as “unfortunate” and clarified that the flask in his possession contained only water.
He explained that he suffers from chronic dehydration and had been advised by his doctor to remain constantly hydrated, hence his habit of carrying a water flask.
“Contrary to the negative narrative being circulated, the flask contained only water — not alcohol,” he stated.

K1 said the container was empty during two separate security checks and was only filled at the airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac.
He emphasised that he had not boarded the aircraft, “let alone being deboarded,” adding that CCTV footage could confirm his account.
The Fuji legend apologised to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, ValueJet, and Nigerians in general for any concerns raised by the incident.
“It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols.
“My patriotism and loyalty to Nigeria have never been in doubt, and I would never tarnish the image I’ve built over five decades,” he said.
