The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has raided multiple notorious drug dens across Kano State, resulting in the arrest of 49 suspects and the seizure of various illicit substances.
The Kano State Command of the NDLEA intensified its efforts to eradicate drug-related crimes with a strategic raid on several drug hotspots within the metropolis. The operation was carried out as part of the agency’s ongoing commitment to curb drug abuse, dismantle trafficking networks, and enhance public safety in the region.
According to Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, the spokesperson for the NDLEA Kano Command, the operation targeted identified drug joints where offenders congregate to consume and distribute mind-altering substances that fuel criminal activities and social disorder.
> “These raids are vital to disrupting the cycle of drug abuse that often triggers violence and other unlawful behaviors in our communities,” he said.
The 49 suspects arrested during the clampdown include individuals involved in using, distributing, and trafficking substances such as cannabis sativa, tramadol, diazepam, and other illegal drugs. The NDLEA also recovered dangerous weapons reportedly used to intimidate both the public and law enforcement personnel.

Mr. Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the Kano State Commandant of NDLEA, emphasized that the agency remains resolute in its mission to create a safer environment for residents by targeting drug dens that undermine community health and security. The suspects are currently being held as investigations continue, with the intent to prosecute those found culpable to the fullest extent of the law.
Community cooperation remains a key element of the NDLEA’s strategy. The agency has urged citizens to provide timely intelligence and report suspicious activities that could assist in curbing drug-related offenses.
This latest raid aligns with NDLEA’s broader nationwide efforts to combat drug abuse while promoting public awareness about the dangers and consequences of substance misuse. As Kano prepares for upcoming social events, the agency pledges to sustain vigilance and proactive enforcement to ensure a drug-free and secure environment for all.
