Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, rose from a meeting in Gusau Saturday evening and resolved to ensure the success of the party’s National Convention scheduled for November.

They also reaffirmed their support for the resolutions reached at the 101st National Executive Committee meeting held in July 2025 despite some pockets of internal resistance.

Five governors were present where the PDP Governors’ Forum, led by its Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed read a communique where they acknowledged the significant progress made by some states in addressing security challenges through locally driven initiatives.

However, the forum expressed deep concern over the continued violence and insecurity in several parts of the country.

It called on the Federal Government to adopt more decisive and coordinated measures to protect lives and property and restore peace across affected regions.

“The Forum commends the commendable efforts of the Zamfara State Government in significantly curbing insecurity within the state.

“However, we remain deeply concerned by the continued loss of lives and property in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Benue, and other affected states.

“We urge the Federal Government to adopt a more proactive and responsive approach to addressing the worsening security situation nationwide,” the communiqué stated.

The PDP governors expressed heartfelt appreciation to party members and supporters for their unwavering resilience and loyalty, which continued to strengthen the party amid challenging political circumstances during recent by-elections.

They lauded the strength of party structures at the grassroots and the unwavering commitment of PDP leaders in the face of orchestrated defections and attempts to destabilise the party.

Addressing internal party matters, the governors reaffirmed their support for the resolutions reached at the 101st National Executive Committee meeting held in July 2025.

They also expressed full commitment to ensuring the successful conduct of the party’s National Convention scheduled for Nov. 15, 2025.

They also warned against efforts by “anti-party elements” to derail the process and urged unity among stakeholders.

The forum reaffirmed its commitment to provide purposeful leadership and deliver policies that promote national unity, economic growth, and improved livelihoods for all Nigerians.

In a show of solidarity, the governors extended their appreciation to the government and people of Zamfara State for their warm hospitality.

They also commended Gov. Dauda Lawal for his impactful leadership, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, security, and social welfare.

The forum also expressed condolences to the people of Zamfara on the passing of the Emir of Gusau, and to the Government and people of Oyo State over the recent loss of respected traditional rulers.
