The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,Nyesom Wike has vowed that no amount of criticism or blackmail will deter him from pursuing what he believes is best for Abuja and its residents.

At the flag-off of the construction of Access Roads ILS 02 and ILS 03 (Timipre Sylva Street) in Mabushi District, Abuja, on Monday, September 22, Wike made it clear that efforts to compel the FCT Administration to pay for irregular or non-existent contracts would fail.

The former Rivers state Governor, stressed that only projects duly awarded and backed by proper documentation would be recognized.

“Many of those shouting blackmail are the same civil servants who awarded jobs without approval and now expect payment. That will never happen. Only legitimate contracts backed with proper documentation will be honored,” he stated.

The minister explained that his guiding principles are to serve God, carry out the right policies, and satisfy President Bola Tinubu by faithfully implementing the administration’s agenda.

“I care about God, and about the satisfaction of Mr. President who has trusted me with this assignment” Wike roared.

“Blackmail cannot change me,” he stressed.

Wike also dismissed protests, rumor-mongering and political attacks as distractions, insisting they would not derail ongoing development projects in the capital city and its satellite towns.

He noted that investments in water, roads, and health facilities remain a priority for his team.

Wike has faced criticism in recent weeks, including from activist Omoyele Sowore, who accused him of political excesses.

In response, the minister said President Tinubu’s government guarantees the rule of law and free speech, but warned critics against turning their grievances into destructive attacks.
