By Oscar Okhifo
As Nigeria approaches its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Federal Government has unveiled the official theme for the celebrations: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
The announcement, made by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations, on behalf of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stresses the need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism among all Nigerians, including the public and private sectors, civil society, and citizens.
Since achieving independence on October 1, 1960, Nigeria has faced numerous challenges but has also recorded significant progress across various sectors of the economy.
The government said the 2025 theme calls for collective efforts to consolidate these achievements and pursue loftier national goals, aiming for a stronger, more inclusive nation.
All programmes and activities leading up to the milestone are expected to reflect the official theme, ensuring the message resonates nationwide under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Key events scheduled for the Independence celebrations include:
Juma’at Prayer: Friday, 26th September at 1:00 PM
Inter-Denominational Church Service: Sunday, 28th September at 10:00 AM
World Press Conference: Monday, 29th September at 10:00 AM, where further details will be revealed.
The government urged all Nigerians to actively participate in the celebrations, reinforcing that national unity and collective development remain at the heart of the country’s vision.
