After trending recently over her viral gym photo, Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has sparked fresh conversations with her bold response to the controversy.
The picture, which showed the actress sitting with her phone while her stomach protruded, quickly spread across platforms, drawing a wave of negative comments. Some mocked her body, while others defended her against online shaming.
Blessing wasted no time responding. She stressed that her presence at the gym was for health, not appearances. “I went to the gym to stay fit and healthy, not for a fashion show or runway,” she wrote in a post.
She further expressed displeasure with whoever snapped the photo, saying, “To you who took that picture, I leave you in the hands of God; He will judge you accordingly.”
Media personality Daddy Freeze publicly defended her, blasting the gym’s management and calling for accountability.
He argued that allowing a client’s image to be taken and circulated without consent was unprofessional, demanding CCTV footage to expose the culprit.

On the other hand, social media critic Very Dark Man,VDM, seized the opportunity to mock her. He offered ₦500,000 to the person who leaked the photo and accused the actress of hypocrisy for promoting weight-loss products while still being a regular at the gym.
The controversy deepened when actress Lizzy Anjorin accused fellow actress Iyabo Ojo of being behind the leaked image, although Ojo has yet to issue any response.
Rather than retreating, Blessing turned the backlash into momentum. She launched a “Big Belle Challenge,” offering ₦1 million to the fan who submits the most striking belly photo.
“The person with the biggest belly takes it all,” she announced, inviting participants to tag her on social media. Within hours, the challenge began attracting attention online.
Firing back at VDM, she declared, “At least it’s my stomach that is trending, not my private part. Relevance in 2023, bunch of nuisances! You think I am scared of you?”
Despite criticisms, many of her supporters have applauded her resilience, describing her response as an empowering rejection of body shaming while cleverly turning negativity into a publicity tool.
