Spotify is celebrating Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, alongside other global sensations including Wizkid, Rema, Asake, and Ayra Starr as its Top rated Afrobeats stars.

Notably, Ayra Starr stood out as the only female artist to make the year’s ranking, cementing her reputation as one of Afrobeats’ fastest-rising voices.

Spotify highlighted the genre’s unstoppable growth, noting that Afrobeats is no longer just an African sound but a worldwide movement.

“Afrobeats continues to expand its reach, with fans streaming artists like #heisrema, #wizkidayo, and #burnaboygram from Nigeria to Brazil. Check out some of the top songs, artists, and countries fueling the genre’s discovery and growth globally,” the platform stated.

Alongside the artists’ recognition, Spotify also released its top Afrobeats tracks for 2025, a list that reflects the genre’s fusion of African rhythm with international collaboration.

Leading the chart is Santa by Ayra Starr, Rauw Alejandro, and Rvssian—a cross-continental hit that blends Afro-pop with Latin influences. Other tracks include Shake It To The Max (FLY) – Remix by MOLY, Shenseea, Silent Addy, and Skillibeng, and Calm Down (with Selena Gomez) by Rema, a song that continues to resonate globally long after its initial release.

Burna Boy’s collaboration-heavy single WE PRAY, featuring Coldplay, Elyanna, Little Simz, and TINT, also made the list, underlining his ability to cross musical boundaries and sustain his dominance as one of Afrobeats’ leading ambassadors.

Completing the lineup is People by Cameroonian singer Libianca, which gained international traction as part of the Afrobeats-inspired soundscape.

The countries where Afrobeats is most discovered in 2025—according to Spotify—include the United States, Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Nigeria itself.

The geographic spread illustrates how the sound has become a unifying cultural force, attracting millions of new listeners in both traditional and emerging markets.

For many observers, the recognition of Nigerian artists on such platforms underscores the power of Afrobeats to shape the future of global music.

From Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning feats to Wizkid’s groundbreaking international tours, the genre has moved beyond novelty to become a mainstay on international stages.

Ayra Starr’s appearance on the list further highlights the growing influence of women in Afrobeats, a space historically dominated by men.

With chart-topping singles and increasing collaborations with global stars, she represents a new generation redefining the genre’s boundaries.

Industry analysts believe that Spotify’s acknowledgment reflects not only the popularity of these artists but also the commercial opportunities that come with Afrobeats’ expansion.

For Nigeria, it is a reminder of the cultural capital the nation wields in global entertainment.

As 2025 progresses, Afrobeats is expected to keep evolving, drawing from its African roots while embracing global diversity.

With stars like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, Asake, and Ayra Starr leading the charge, the genre’s influence appears destined to grow even stronger.
