Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has urged the Kwara State government to immediately consider the implementation of N32,000 monthly minimum pension for retirees on the payroll of the state government.

It said payment of minimum pension would be in tune with N70,000 monthly wage for least paid workers as applicable in other states.

The state NLC Chairman, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, made the call in a statement issued after the State Executive Council meeting of the congress held in Ilorin on Monday.

Comrade Olayinka also tasked the state government to implement 40 percent peculiar allowance for core civil servants in the state.

The NLC chief appealed to the government to work on the 27 percent Teachers’ Specific Allowance for teachers as well as weigh-in allowance for the staff of Kwara State Council for Arts and Culture.

He stressed the need to implement promotion benefit for deserving workers in the employment of the state government.

The NLC chairman called on the government to consider all outstanding requests of affiliate unions of the congress including that of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Non-Academic Staff Union and Nigeria Civil Service Union among others.

Comrade Olayinka felicitated the Chairmen of the 16 local government areas of the state on their one-year anniversary in office and the level of achievements recorded within the period under review.

He however commiserated with the people of Kwara North and South on the rising wave of insecurity that had claimed innocent lives in recent times and sought concerted efforts of all stakeholders to curb the menace of banditry.
