All arrangements are set for the 2025 Annual Conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers,GOCOP, set to host key voices in media and governance.

The event is scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 9, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

Now in its ninth edition, the annual conference has built a reputation as a credible forum for national dialogue on critical governance and development issues.

This year’s theme, “Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects,” reflects the Guild’s commitment to interrogating the performance of political leaders against the backdrop of electoral pledges.

The conference will commence at 10:00 a.m. and feature a keynote address by former Speaker of the House of Representatives and immediate past Governor of Katsina State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari.

The event will be chaired by Chief Bode George, former Governor of old Ondo State and ex-Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

A high-level panel discussion will follow, featuring notable thought leaders and policy experts, including Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, Director of the Institute of Continuing Education at the University of Lagos, and Alhaji Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of the National Orientation Agency.

Danlami Nmodu, mni, GOCOP Deputy President and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, affirmed that all plans had been concluded to deliver a highly impactful gathering.

He stressed that the goal is to generate practical insights for bridging the gap between campaign promises and governance realities in Nigeria and across Africa.

Over the years, the GOCOP Annual Conference has attracted distinguished personalities who have offered diverse perspectives on pressing national concerns.

Past editions have featured the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha; Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu; financial economist Prof. Uche Uwaleke; and former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke.

The Guild, made up of over 120-member organisations, brings together publishers, editors, and senior journalists who transitioned from traditional media to digital platforms.

With a strong emphasis on credibility, accuracy, and professionalism, GOCOP continues to play a leading role in promoting responsible journalism in the digital space.

Nmodu also highlighted that the 2025 conference presents opportunities for brands and corporate organisations to partner with GOCOP in ways that connect them directly to influential media leaders, policymakers, and industry decision-makers.

The Guild has expressed confidence that this year’s deliberations will not only spark constructive debates but also provide actionable strategies to strengthen governance across Nigeria.
