The President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation, NHF, Simon Nkom has been elected to the Executive Board of the African Hockey Federation, AfHF, at its 25th Ordinary Congress in Ismailia, Egypt.
The prestigious congress brought together top hockey administrators and stakeholders from across Africa, marking a new chapter in the leadership structure of the continental hockey body.
Nkom’s election is widely regarded as a recognition of his consistent dedication and significant contributions to the growth and development of hockey in Nigeria and across Africa.
In his remarks, Nkom expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by his peers, reaffirming his commitment to serve selflessly and advance the sport at the continental level.
The congress also featured a special moment of honour for Nigeria’s Prof. Ediga Agbo, who successfully completed a 10-year tenure as a member of the AfHF Executive Board.

He was specially recognised by both the President of the International Hockey Federation,FIH, Tayyab Ikram, and the President of the African Hockey Federation, Seif Ahmed, for his immense contributions to the sport’s administration and development in Africa.
The federation described the achievements of Nkom and Agbo as a testament to Nigeria’s growing influence in continental hockey and their unwavering commitment to nurturing a new generation of African hockey excellence.
