A drama has unfolded in a Lagos mini estate following a heated disagreement over the use of a central generator, which has now drawn police intervention. The dispute involved popular Nigerian singer, D’banj, and a 78-year-old former federal legislator, Mr. Yakeen Alabi.
The disagreement which occurred at 1B Kalabari Close, Off Queen’s Drive, Ikoyi, has attracted police attention after a formal complaint of criminal intimidation was filed.
In a written complaint dated October 11, and addressed to the Divisional Police Officer, Ikoyi Police Station, Mr. Alabi alleged that the musician threatened to beat him during an argument about the fuelling of the central generator serving their residence.
He stated that the incident occurred shortly after he was discharged from Reddington Hospital, an experience he described as traumatic and distressing.
Mr. Alabi wrote that the singer, identified as D’banj, moved toward him in a manner that suggested an attempt to assault him.
