The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that more than eight million Nigerians have completed the pre-online registration phase of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the commission disclosed that a total of 8,003,196 Nigerians have successfully concluded their pre-online registration, while 1.7 million citizens have completed the full process, including physical verification and biometric capture.
According to INEC’s week-nine statistical update, Imo State led the chart with 826,850 registrants (10.32%), followed by Lagos State with 604,619 (7.56%), and Ogun State with 510,062 (6.37%).
Yobe State recorded the lowest participation, with just 2,714 registrants (0.03%). The commission added that voter registration in Anambra State remains suspended until after the November 8 governorship election, in line with the Electoral Act 2022, Section 9(6).
The demographic breakdown revealed that women slightly outnumbered men, with 4,190,890 (52.37%) compared to 3,812,306 (47.63%) male registrants.

Youths aged 18 to 34 years made up the largest segment with 5.5 million (69.14%), followed by the middle-aged group of 35–49 years (20.97%), while elderly citizens between 50–69 years accounted for 8.81%.
Occupational data showed that students formed the largest category at 25.23%, followed by business persons (20.74%), while persons with disabilities (PWDs) made up 2.29% of total online registrants.
INEC further clarified that of the 1.7 million completed registrations, 956,566 were finalized online, while 753,884 were completed physically at registration centers. States with the highest number of completed registrations included Osun (151,593), FCT (106,855), and Lagos (85,831).
The Commission emphasized that these figures remain subject to verification through the Automated Biometric Identification System, which is designed to detect and remove duplicate or invalid entries.
INEC urged eligible Nigerians yet to register to visit its online portal — https://cvr.inec.gov.ng or https://cvr.inecnigeria.org — or proceed to the nearest registration center to complete their voter enrolment process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
