President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service to fill existing vacancies.

This has reinforced his administration’s drive to strengthen leadership and promote efficiency in public administration.

Those appointed are:

  1. Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi – Federal Capital Territory
  2. Ezemama John Chidiebere – Imo State
  3. Garba Abdul Sule Usman – North Central Geo-Political Zone
  4. Mohammed Musa Ishiyaku – North East Geo-Political Zone
  5. Ukaire Binyerem Chigbowu – South East Geo-Political Zone

The selection process was described as rigorous and transparent, aligning with the administration’s stated commitment to merit-based advancement in the public service.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries emerged successful after a series of competency evaluations aimed at identifying top-tier public officers with proven records of accomplishment, leadership capacity, and institutional knowledge.

The appointments underscore the President’s ongoing efforts to reposition the Civil Service as the engine room of government operations and policy execution.

With these additions, the administration aims to inject renewed professionalism, strengthen operational capacity across ministries, and enhance the delivery of public services nationwide.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, congratulated the appointees and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver on their new responsibilities. She praised President Tinubu for his consistent support to the Civil Service and noted that the appointments reflect a clear commitment to fairness, meritocracy, and excellence in governance.

Walson-Jack reiterated that the Federal Government remains determined to build a results-driven Public Service capable of meeting national aspirations and driving sustainable development.

She urged the new Permanent Secretaries to uphold integrity, innovation, and accountability, emphasizing their crucial role in policy coordination, institutional reforms, and service delivery.

The swearing-in and deployment schedules for the new Permanent Secretaries will be announced in due course as preparations begin for their assumption of duty.

Their appointments form part of broader public sector reforms aimed at strengthening institutions, improving service delivery, and ensuring a responsive and people-centered government.
