The Sultan Foundation, an NGO, has secured a donation of school furniture to Kebbi State, estimated at over N1.2 billion.
The items were presented to Gov. Nasir Idris, at the Bulasa Warehouse, near Birnin Kebbi by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, in company of the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera.
Muhammadu-Mera, who spoke on behalf of the Sultan, said the donation of 3,785 pieces of furniture was to complement the state government’s efforts in revitalizing the education sector in Kebbi.
According to him, the items were procured with the support of an indigene of the state based in Atlanta, USA, Aminu Yaro, alongside some international partners.

Sama’ila-Mera commended Idris for providing N196 million for the shipment and delivery of the items to Nigeria and the state.
He also lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving N280 million duty waiver that allowed for the duty-free clearance of the furniture.
Responding, Idris expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a major boost to his administration’s commitment to improving education in Kebbi.
“The Sultan Foundation is a highly reputable organization that reflects the esteemed stature of His Eminence both in Nigeria and beyond.
“This is a clear sign that Sultan has Kebbi at heart. We are deeply grateful for your continuous support and leadership,” the Governor said.
Idris recalled that the foundation had previously donated medical supplies to the state, assuring that the furniture would be judiciously utilized for the benefit of the people.
He also appealed to the foundation to facilitate more of such donations in future, especially beds and beddings as well as other educational materials.
