A non-government organization, the Anamero Idofe Anamero Foundation has paid the 2026 West African Examination Council, WAEC, registration fees for 5,000 indigent students in Edo State.
It was reported that the disbursement of the fees was held at Ogute in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo, on Sunday.
The Founder, Rep. Anamero Dekeri (APC–Etsako Federal Constituency), said that the WAEC enrolment was meant for less privileged students in public schools in Edo.
Dekeri, who was represented by Mr. Vincent Giwa, stated that the gesture was borne out of his compassion to support less privileged students.
He added that the 5,000 students were selected from across the 18 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the WAEC enrolment has no political undertone but is given through his NGO, which operates across the state.

“The scholarship you receive today is more than a financial aid; it is a testament to the power of community.
“A promise that I will continue to lift one another.
“As I look ahead, I remain committed to expanding my reach to adding more classrooms, books and more opportunities for those who need them most.
“To the recipients of this year’s WAEC scholarship; you are the embodiment of what this foundation stands for; determination, excellence and the willingness to give back.
“May you seize this moment to excel in your examination become the leaders who will shape Edo’s tomorrow,” he said.
Earlier, the NGO’s Chairman, WAEC Enrolment Committee, Dr Edeh Waziri pledged to be fair and transparent in the distribution of the fees to deserving indigent students in Edo.
He admonished the beneficiaries to see the gesture as an opportunity for them to give their best in their examination.
“This programme has become a beacon of hope for many students, providing them with opportunity to pursue their academic dreams.
“This programme is designed to give hope to the hopeless, bridging the educational gap and creating opportunities for those who may not have access to quality education.
“We are proud of the impact we have made in Edo State. And we remain committed to our mission,” Waziri said.
Micheal Aiyemo, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the foundation and the lawmaker for the gesture.
“We promise to use it for the purpose for which the money was given to me.
“We really appreciate what the foundation and the lawmaker have done for us, and we promise to do well in our examination,” he said.
