Under head coach Justin Madugu, Nigeria swept through the group stage with commanding victories over Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria without conceding a goal. The championship match delivered one of the most memorable comebacks in tournament history. After trailing 2–0 within the first 24 minutes, the Super Falcons roared back in the second half, scoring three goals in 24 minutes to claim the trophy in dramatic fashion.
Their outstanding performance also earned individual honours. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade was shortlisted for CAF Women’s Player of the Year, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie received a nomination for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.
With another record-setting year, the Super Falcons continue to inspire young female footballers across Africa and reaffirm Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse in women’s football.
