Telecommunications subscribers in Abuja have continued to experience service disruptions as the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, acknowledges ongoing Quality of Service, challenges affecting the nation’s capital.
The Commission said the decline in service quality has negatively impacted users’ overall experience, prompting urgent interventions to stabilise telecommunications operations across affected areas of the Federal Capital Territory.
The NCC explained that the disruptions stem largely from interruptions in diesel supply to base stations managed by IHS Nigeria Limited, a major colocation provider responsible for powering infrastructure used by Airtel and MTN.
The diesel shortage has led to outages at several base stations, worsening network performance in parts of Abuja.
The situation has been linked to the activities of the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association, whose actions disrupted diesel distribution to critical telecommunications sites.
This development, the Commission noted, has had a direct impact on the availability and reliability of communication services.
In response, the NCC said it is working closely with major industry stakeholders and licensees to resolve the challenges and restore optimal service delivery.

The Commission stressed that reliable power supply remains vital to sustaining efficient telecommunications services and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for subscribers.
To address the crisis, the NCC said it has intensified engagements with relevant stakeholders to remove diesel supply bottlenecks affecting critical telecom infrastructure.
It also emphasised the need for collective action by all parties involved to ensure a swift resolution and prevent further service degradation.
Reaffirming its regulatory commitment, the Commission said it is taking proactive steps to facilitate dialogue between affected service providers, infrastructure companies and other stakeholders, with the aim of finding both immediate and sustainable solutions to the power supply issues.
The NCC assured subscribers that it remains fully committed to managing the situation effectively and restoring full telecommunications services across Abuja. It also pledged to keep the public informed on progress made towards resolving the disruptions.
The Commission expressed appreciation to subscribers for their patience and understanding, reiterating its resolve to deliver reliable, high-quality telecommunications services across Nigeria.
