The former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam has emerged as the African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election.
Salaam secured the party’s ticket on Monday at the ADC governorship primary held at the Ultimate Civic Centre in Osogbo where delegates converged for the exercise.
Before the commencement of voting, the Chairman of the ADC 2026 Primary Election Committee, Mr Emeka Nwajiuba, addressed party delegates and confirmed that Salaam was the only aspirant cleared to contest the primary.
Nwajiuba explained that documentation from the party’s Organising Secretary’s Office, as well as the screening exercise conducted ahead of the primary, showed that Salaam was the sole contender for the governorship ticket.
Following the address, a total of 528 accredited delegates drawn from the 332 wards across the state lined up to cast their votes in the primary.
Announcing the outcome of the exercise, Nwajiuba said all 528 delegates voted, with 520 votes declared valid in favour of Salaam, while eight votes were voided.
