The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has introduced a Pre-Enrolment Portal aimed at improving efficiency, reducing congestion, and enhancing the overall experience of applicants registering for the National Identification Number, NIN.
In a press statement issued by the Commission, the digital platform allows applicants within Nigeria and in the diaspora to capture and submit their personal biodata online before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture.
This approach is designed to significantly cut waiting times and ease pressure at enrolment centres nationwide.
NIMC explained that the portal forms part of its broader strategy to modernise the NIN registration process through technology-driven solutions.
By enabling applicants to input their information directly, the system is expected to improve data accuracy while ensuring secure and confidential handling of personal information through enhanced security measures.
The Commission noted that the new platform also supports online upload of required supporting documents and appointment scheduling, further simplifying the enrolment process and improving service delivery.

The introduction of the Pre-Enrolment Portal underscores the commitment of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, to strengthening institutional performance and public service efficiency through digital transformation.
The initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises efficient public service delivery, innovation, and inclusive national development.
NIMC encouraged all prospective NIN applicants to take advantage of the Pre-Enrolment Portal for a smoother, faster, and more organised enrolment experience.
The Commission added that the platform is a key step towards building a reliable and sustainable digital identity ecosystem to support national development.
Applicants are advised to access the Pre-Enrolment Portal via penrol.nimc.gov.ng.
