Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, KWAM1, has filed a suit against Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and five others at an Ijebu-Ode high court over the ongoing process to install the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

The musician is seeking an order of interim injunction restraining the governor and other respondents from taking further steps in the selection and installation of a new Awujale pending the determination of a substantive suit before the court.

Those listed as respondents in the suit include the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government; the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council; and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

The legal action follows K1’s declared interest in the vacant Awujale stool, with the musician laying claim to royal lineage traced to the Jadiara Royal House within the larger Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, the claim has been rejected by the family, which maintained that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland has no ancestral connection with the Fusengbuwa Ruling House or its royal lineage.

In a motion ex parte filed before High Court 2, marked Suit No: HC3/238/2025, K1 urged the court to halt the selection process.

The application was brought pursuant to Order 38 Rule 4 and Order 39 Rule 1 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2024, Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and under the inherent jurisdiction of the court.

The suit, dated December 16, seeks an interim order restraining all the respondents from taking any further action in the selection process until the court hears and determines the substantive matter.

The applicant argued that the interim injunction was necessary to protect his interest and preserve the subject matter of the suit from being altered or interfered with during the pendency of the case.

As of the time of filing, the court has not fixed a date for the hearing of the application.
