FilmOne Entertainment has recorded a strong box office opening with Warlord: Olori Ogun, which grossed ₦47 million in its opening weekend, signalling a growing appetite among Nigerian cinema audiences for culturally rooted storytelling.
The film, produced by Odunlade Adekola Film Production, in partnership with FilmOne Studios, premiered on Wednesday, November 26, before its nationwide cinema release on Friday, November 28. It is co-directed by Odunlade Adekola, Tope Adebayo and Abiodun Olanrewaju.
Set against the backdrop of Yoruba history and tradition, Warlord: Olori Ogun centres on a fearless warrior confronted with family conflict while standing firm in defence of his people and ancestral heritage.
Through a blend of drama, history and cultural symbolism, the film explores themes of bravery, legacy, identity and community.
The star-studded premiere drew several Nollywood actors and industry stakeholders, including Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, Mike Ezuruonye, Itele D Icon, Kie Kie and Bisola Aiyeola.
The red carpet was marked by vibrant traditional outfits that echoed the film’s cultural focus.

Speaking at the premiere, producer and lead actor Odunlade Adekola described the project as a labour of passion, expressing pride in the story and its execution.
He said audiences should expect a powerful and exceptional cinematic experience.
The film stars Odunlade Adekola, Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo Salami and Ibrahim Chatta, among others. Performances have drawn early praise for their depth, authenticity and strong connection to Nigerian cultural identity.
