Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has made a massive windfall after correctly predicting the outcome of Nigeria’s opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

The singer and DMW Records boss placed a bet ahead of the Super Eagles’ Group C clash against Tanzania in Fes, Morocco, backing both teams to score in the encounter.

His prediction proved accurate on Tuesday night as Nigeria secured a 2–1 victory over the Taifa Stars in an entertaining contest that lived up to expectations.

Nigeria dominated large spells of the game and took the lead, but Tanzania stunned the Super Eagles with an equaliser against the run of play, briefly shifting momentum.

The Super Eagles responded swiftly, regaining control and pushing forward in search of a winner. Their persistence paid off late in the match when Ademola Lookman struck the decisive goal, sealing all three points for Nigeria.

Davido’s successful wager earned him a payout of $96,564, estimated at about N140 million, sparking widespread reactions across social media, where fans praised his spot-on prediction.

The victory places Nigeria in a strong position in Group C as the team targets a fourth AFCON title. With confidence boosted from the opening win, the Super Eagles now shift attention to their next group fixture against Tunisia, aiming to sustain momentum and move closer to qualification for the knockout stages.
