Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, on Sunday issued a public apology to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, dramatically kneeling before his congregation as he sought forgiveness over a controversy that has played out intensely on social media.

The apology follows weeks of public accusations by Ogala, who alleged that the cleric engaged in an affair with her, promised marriage, shared explicit content, and later offered her $10,000 to withdraw claims that she was hired by rival pastors to damage his reputation.

In a viral video shared by @NigeriaStories on X, Okafor was seen at the pulpit addressing worshippers, admitting to past errors while urging forgiveness.

“Listen, we’re not joining issues. Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender an apology to everybody,” he said.

He went further to mention Ogala by name, saying, “I am sorry to everyone I have offended, to Doris Ogala also. I say sorry and apologise to everyone that I’ve offended.”

The pastor expressed readiness to make amends, adding, “I’m ready to make a restitution to anyone, anybody, any lady I have offended. I am sorry. Forgive me.”

Acknowledging his flaws, Okafor said, “I’m not perfect. I’ve never been perfect.”

He then knelt before the congregation, a move that drew cheers, as he appealed for prayers and understanding. “I’m kneeling down before everyone and before the church. Forgive me. You can judge me. Pray for me,” he said.

Despite the public apology, Okafor insisted that several claims made against him were untrue, stating that many of the allegations contained “so many lies.”

His remarks sparked fresh reactions, with Ogala responding during an Instagram Live session. While she accepted the apology, she rejected the suggestion that her claims were false.

“CHRIS OKAFOR, I FORGIVE YOU, BUT THERE’S A PROBLEM. WHERE YOU SAID EVERYTHING IS A LIE. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT BECAUSE I DON’T LIE,” she wrote.

The controversy intensified earlier this month after Ogala accused the cleric of promising to marry her and contributing to the breakdown of her previous relationship, only to later wed another woman.

Okafor reportedly married his new bride, identified as Pearl, earlier in the week, despite the actress’s viral accusations of betrayal, emotional manipulation and abandonment.

In several emotional videos shared online, Ogala claimed the relationship spanned several years, beginning around 2017, and alleged that she ended her previous marriage at Okafor’s urging.

She said the abrupt end of the relationship left her emotionally distressed and publicly humiliated.

Okafor had initially dismissed the allegations, stating that he would allow legal authorities to handle the matter.

However, mounting public pressure and Ogala’s continued insistence appear to have prompted the cleric’s public apology.
