The 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, enters a crucial phase this weekend as Matchday 22 fixtures take place across various centres.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the table remains tight at the top, with key matches poised to shape the title race, continental spots, and relegation battle.

Rivers United FC lead after 21 matches, securing 41 points from 11 wins, 8 draws, and 2 losses, holding a slim but firm advantage.

Pressure mounts as top-half clashes approach, with rivals closing in on the Pride of Rivers ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

Abia Warriors FC occupy second with 37 points, followed by Ikorodu City FC and Nasarawa United FC, both on 35 points, intensifying the title race.

Defending champions Enugu Rangers International FC remain in contention with 33 points. Bendel Insurance FC and Shooting Stars FC are level on 32 points.

Action begins Saturday as Katsina United FC host Plateau United FC. The sides sit on 29 and 23 points, making the clash vital for survival.

Sunday, Jan. 25, features most fixtures, including several mouth-watering encounters that could redefine the top half of the table.

El-Kanemi Warriors FC host Ikorodu City FC, as the visitors seek maximum points to keep title hopes alive against a mid-table rival.

Barau FC face Bayelsa United FC in a one-point battle, with both teams desperate for consistency and vital league points.

Remo Stars FC host bottom-placed Khun Khalifat, hoping to exploit home advantage as their opponents fight to avoid relegation.

Enugu Rangers International FC take on Warri Wolves FC, aiming to assert championship credentials against a resilient Wolves side.

Abia Warriors FC face Nasarawa United FC in a standout fixture. A win here could significantly reshape the top four standings.

Shooting Stars FC clash with Bendel Insurance FC in Ibadan, as both sides on 32 points chase continental qualification.

Wikki Tourists FC host Kano Pillars FC in a traditional heavyweight battle, with both teams seeking to climb away from danger.

Niger Tornadoes FC meet Enyimba International FC in high stakes encounter as Enyimba aim to revive their campaign.

Just a few points separate the top eight, making Matchday 22 pivotal in defining the direction of the title race.

At the lower end, every point matters, with clubs separated by narrow margins fighting to avoid relegation, making each result critical.

Fans can expect drama, intensity, and decisive moments across stadiums nationwide as the NPFL season gathers momentum.

Kwara United vs Rivers United has been postponed due to Rivers United’s CAF Champions League matchday three clashes against Power Dynamos.
