Six out of 10 Americans oppose U.S. President Donald Trump’s military attacks on Iran and the deployment of ground troops. More than half predicted the conflict would increase threats to the U.S. and prolong the situation. On the 2nd, U.S. CNN reported these findings, citing a public opinion survey conducted by SSRS, a polling firm commissioned by the network.

According to the survey results, 59% of all respondents answered they do not support the Trump administration’s decision to attack Iran. In particular, 60% strongly opposed deploying U.S. troops to Iran, showing a significant gap from the 12% in Favor.

Critical views also prevailed regarding diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict before the use of force. Only 27% responded that “sufficient diplomatic efforts were made before using military force,” while 39% pointed out that “diplomatic efforts were insufficient.”

Americans also expressed strong doubts about President Trump’s crisis management capabilities. Sixty percent of respondents evaluated that “President Trump does not have a clear plan to control the situation in Iran,” and 59% responded negatively when asked if he would make the right military decisions in Iran.

Pessimistic outlooks dominated regarding future developments. Fifty-four percent responded that U.S. military operations against Iran would instead “pose a greater threat to the U.S.,” far surpassing the 28% who observed threats would decrease. Additionally, 56% expressed concerns that the military conflict between the two countries would prolong.

Meanwhile, views on the issue sharply diverged depending on political party affiliation. While 77% of Republican supporters expressed support for the airstrikes, only 18% of Democratic supporters did so. The percentage believing that “the airstrikes could reduce Iran’s threat” also showed a significant perception gap between Republican supporters 58% and Democratic supporters 9%.
