Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo is dead. He was reported to be playing a football match in Kaduna when he slumped and died.

He was brought on in the second half of the match and he fell on his own without any contact.

Eneramo played for various clubs like Besiktas of Turkey, Tunisian champions Esperance as well as Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

In 2008, Eneramo considered accepting Tunisian citizenship in order to become eligible to play for the national team of the North African country. He was eventually called up to the Nigeria national team in 2009 and played his first game on 11 February 2009.

In his second game with the Super Eagles, Eneramo scored the opening goal against the Republic of Ireland.

In a related development, Former Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year.

As reported by ESPN Africa on Friday, the 67-year-old disclosed the condition in a personal statement, saying he has been receiving treatment and support since the diagnosis.

“I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year. I am currently focused on managing his health with the help of medical professionals,” he said.

He did not provide further details on the stage of the illness but expressed gratitude for the care he has received.

Hughton, who most recently managed Ghana’s national team, said he chose to go public to raise awareness about prostate cancer and encourage early testing among men.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men globally, and health experts consistently stress that early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes.

Hughton has previously managed several clubs in England, including Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Norwich City, before taking charge of the Black Stars.
