US President Donald Trump said he would review Iran’s latest peace proposal but expressed scepticism about its chances, noting that Tehran “has not yet paid a big enough price” for its actions over the past 47 years. He made the remarks on his Truth Social platform.
According to Iranian media outlets, Tehran has submitted a 14-point plan to mediator Pakistan. The proposal reportedly calls for an end to hostilities on all fronts and introduces a new framework for managing the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Further, the White House has appointed Nick Stewart as an adviser to the diplomatic team working on ending the Iran conflict, according to CBS News.
Spokeswoman Olivia Wales described him as a “sharp, seasoned policy expert,” adding that his experience at the State Department and on Capitol Hill would support the team led by Steve Witkoff.
Earlier, a senior Iranian official issued a sharp warning to US, threatening to turn the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz into “graveyard” for American forces amid ongoing tensions.

OPEC+ set to agree third oil output quota hike since Hormuz closure: OPEC+ is set to agree on a modest oil output hike on Sunday, according to sources who spoke to news agency Reuters. However, the increase will remain mostly on paper as long as the US-Iran war continues to disrupt Gulf oil supplies, they added. Seven OPEC+ countries, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Oman, have agreed in principle to raise oil output targets by about 188,000 barrels per day in June. The move comes as a way to show the group is ready to raise global supplies once the war stops.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high in Lebanon. The country’s National News Agency reported that Israeli strikes in the southern town of Sammaiyeh, in the Tyre district, killed three people.
The Israel Defence Forces said it targeted and dismantled around 70 military structures and about 50 Hezbollah sites across southern Lebanon on Saturday. These strikes have continued despite a fragile ceasefire reached on April 17 in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
