The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has donated foodstuff to victims of attacks in Ngbrazongo community, Kwall District of Basaa Local Government Area, LGA, of Plateau State.

Dr Benard Doro, the Minister in charge of the Ministry, in company of Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, presented the items to the victims on Monday in Bassa.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that gunmen on Friday, attacked Ngbrazongo community, killed some persons and injured many others.

Doro, a native of the area, commiserated with those who lost their loved ones, adding that the Federal Government had put modalities in place to address the security situation in the state.

“We are here on behalf of the federal government to present these items as a form of succor to our people who were recently attacked.

“President Bola Tinubu is worried by the security challenges in Plateau, and he is committed to addressing it headlong,” he said

Speaking, Mutfwang, who commiserated with the affected persons, frowned at the resurgence of insecurity in Plateau.

The governor described the killings in the state as a pure act of terrorism, insisting that the move aimed at denying residents access to their means of livelihoods.

He promised to collaborate with the federal government, particularly the security agencies, towards ending the menace.

“We are here to let you know that you are not alone; we want you to know that we are together in this.

“Nobody is happy over the unfortunate situation, but by the special grace of God, we will soon overcome.

“As your leaders, we are under oath to defend our land and secure our people; so, no Plateau land will be ceded to terrorists,” Mutfwang said.

The governor, who commended the security agencies for securing communities, called on the youths to support their efforts towards the safety of lives and property.

In a brief remark, Dr Jushua Riti, the Chairman of Bassa LGA, said that the consistent attacks on communities in the locality had grossly affected economic activities in the area.

Also, Rev. Daniel Gya, the President of Irigwe Development Association, called on the government to tackle the menace and provide social amenities to open up rural communities.

NAN reports that the items donated to victims include 100 bags each of rice, beans, maize, cooking oil, among others.
