The Katsina State Government has commended the state Police Command for the arrest of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate operating within Katsina metropolis.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Mu’azu, praised the professionalism and swift response of operatives of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, led by the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar-Fage.

He said the suspects were arrested following intelligence-led operations linked to the kidnapping of an eight-year-old boy on May 13 in Sardauna Housing Estate, Katsina.

According to him, the boy was abducted while returning from an Islamic school by a syndicate allegedly led by one Nura Aliyu, popularly known as “Nura Garwa.”

The commissioner added that exhibits connected to the crime were also recovered during the operation.

Mu’azu said the breakthrough demonstrated the commitment of Gov. Dikko Radda’s administration toward strengthening security through collaboration with security agencies.

“The government is working tirelessly with security agencies to keep Katsina State safe and secure for all residents.

“We will continue to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for security operatives to effectively discharge their duties,” he said.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information to aid efforts against kidnapping and other criminal activities.

The commissioner also reassured residents that the government remained committed to sustaining ongoing security gains across the state.

Mu’azu, on behalf of the state government, commended the Katsina State Police Command for the successful operation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
