Social media critic Martins ‘VeryDarkMan’ Otse has given the Federal Government four days to rescue 46 abducted teachers and pupils in Oyo State, threatening to raise ransom funds and negotiate with their captors himself if they remain in captivity.

The influencer said he could no longer watch videos of the victims pleading for help. The schoolchildren and teachers were kidnapped two weeks ago in Oriire LGA near Ogbomoso, and a ransom video surfaced online this week.

“My eyes are heavy. My heart is heavy, especially for the children who have been without their parents for two weeks,” he said. “Nobody knows if all 46 are still alive. Nobody knows if they’re being starved.”

VeryDarkMan issued a four-day ultimatum to security agencies, warning that failure to secure their release would force him to take matters into his own hands.

“If in the next four days the Nigerian government and security agencies cannot rescue them or negotiate their release, for the first time I will open a GoFundMe account. We will contribute whatever the terrorists are asking for and pay them,” he declared.

He said he was aware of legal implications but was prepared to face consequences. “I know there may be implications for negotiating with terrorists. But I am ready to pay the price to get those children and teachers back to their families.”

The abduction is the latest in a string of mass kidnappings targeting schools in the Southwest. Security agencies have yet to announce any breakthrough in the Oyo case.
