In a decisive move against kidnapping and violent crimes, the Oyo State Government on Monday demolished a three-bedroom hideout by kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her two children.

The demolished building, located in the Lako Community, Aiyegun, near Ibadan, was identified by security operatives during investigations into the high-profile abduction that shocked residents of the state.

Officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation carried out the demolition exercise with the support of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who maintained security at the scene.

The operation followed the successful rescue of the victims, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan.

The incident had generated widespread concern across Oyo State and beyond, prompting intensified efforts by security agencies to track down the abductors and dismantle their network.

Government officials said the demolition was aimed at sending a strong warning to criminal elements that the state would not tolerate the use of residential buildings or any other structures for illegal activities.

According to the government, the action forms part of ongoing measures to strengthen security, disrupt criminal hideouts and ensure the safety of residents.

The state reiterated its commitment to tackling insecurity and working closely with security agencies to rid Oyo of kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The Merit Newspaper reports that residents of the area who witnessed the demolition commended the government’s swift action, describing it as a bold step capable of discouraging criminal gangs from operating within communities.

The latest development comes amid renewed efforts by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to combat insecurity through collaboration with security agencies and the enforcement of measures aimed at protecting lives and property across the state.
